On August 20, join us for an engaging Sunday Scene with a guest speaker Rinaldo Walcott, who will be reflecting on Ron Terada's exhibition WE DID THIS TO OURSELVES. Together with Walcott, audience will examine Terada's work through social and cultural lens.
Rinaldo Wayne Walcott is a Canadian academic and writer. Walcott is a Professor and Chair of Africana and American Studies at the University at Buffalo. He holds the Carl V. Granger Chair in Africana and American Studies. Previously, he was an associate professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and the director of the Women and Gender Studies Institute at the University of Toronto. He was also affiliated with the Cinema Studies Institute at the University of Toronto. Walcott was formerly an assistant professor at York University. From 2002 to 2007, he was the Canada Research Chair of Social Justice and Cultural Studies. Walcott's work focuses on Black studies, Canadian studies, cultural studies, queer theory, gender studies, and diaspora studies.
