We welcome audiences for a Sunday Scene with the Head of Exhibitions and Publications at the McMichael Gallery, Jennifer Withrow, who will talk about Jen Aitken's artistic practice.

Withrow will explore connections between Aitken's exhibition _[The Same Thing Looks Different](https://www.thepowerplant.org/whats-on/exhibitions/the-same-thing-looks-different)_ at The Power Plant, and the artist's recent residency in the Thomson Shack at McMichael Gallery. Together we'll explore how architecture, history, light, and angles inform Aitken's work.

Jen Aitken (b.1985) makes sculptures and drawings that combine perceptual ambiguity with structural clarity. Based in Toronto, she received her MFA in 2014 from the University of Guelph, and her BFA in 2010 from Emily Carr University, Vancouver. Aitken received a Toronto Friends of the Visual Arts Award in 2021, and the Hnatyshyn Foundation and TD Bank Emerging Visual Artist Award in 2017.

Her works have been acquired by Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto; Kamloops Art Gallery; McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Kleinburg; Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal; and RBC, Toronto.

Speakers from the world of art and beyond offer their responses to the current exhibitions. Whether focusing on a single work/artist or on multiple exhibitions, guest presenters draw provocative connections between our programs and broader cultural and intellectual debates.
