We invite you to a special Family Day at The Power Plant, inspired by Charles Campbell’s exhibition, which honours water while exploring bathymetry, the science of mapping the ocean floor.

The afternoon begins with a special performance by students from the Sathya Sai School, who will present a musical performance of the Algonquin Water Song, arranged by Andy Luck, blending vocals and instruments. Written by Irene Wawatie Jerome for Grandfather William Commanda’s 2002 Circle of All Nations gathering, this song honours the importance of water and its connection to Indigenous traditions. The students will also perform the Friendship Stick Game Song by Sherryl Sewepagaham, a traditional First Nations song about a game still played at gatherings and celebrations.

Following the performance, families are invited to take part in a hands-on art-making session, creating unique, colourful, bathymetric layered paper collages.

Event Schedule:

12–1 PM – Introduction by Dr. Bob Phillips & performance by students at Sathya Sai School

1–4 PM – Art activity: Creating bathymetric layered paper collages

No registration is required! We look forward to celebrating Family Day with you!
