Anne Lafont on Art and Race

The Black Curators Forum presents Anne Lafont to deliver a talk about her publication L'art et la race: L'Africain (tout) contre l'œil des Lumières [Art and race: The African (everything) against the eye of the Enlightenment], Les presses du réel, 2019.

Lafont completed academic studies in Canada and France before a residency at the Villa Medici, Académie de France in Rome. She was a lecturer in the history of modern art at the University of Paris Est Marne-la-Vallée. She served as head of research programs in art historiography, then as editor-in-chief of Perspective, the journal of the National Institute of Art History (I.N.H.A.). In 2017, she was elected Director of Studies at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in 2017 for a project entitled History of Art and Creolities.
